I originally posted this in the bands and albums section, but figured more people might respond if it was in this section.  Seriously, some folks here need to check this out.

Battles is a funky post-rock/experimental/math rock collective featuring the guitarist from helmet and tomahawk, john stanier, among others.  Their music is quite experimental to say the least, with lots of weird rhythms and quirky guitars.  They are a 4-piece rock band that almost sounds at times like progressive electronic.  I think they should be included in the archives, especially because they are a post-rock band that does not revolve around build-ups and crescendos like Mogwai, EITS, GYBE, etc.

The mp3 located here is not their best work, but it is representative of their overall sound:

http://www.65daysofstatic.com/    check this band too.  It's like post-rock but more electronic and heavy. For those people who think that post-rock isn't going to go anywhere (you know who you are)
