I also love 'Second Album', yet for me 'Air Cut' just edges it as my favourite Curved Air album. It features their best piece in 'Metamorphosis' and most of the other tracks are first class. Eddie Jobson gives a bravura performance on the whole album, too.

I love Air Conditioning, Second Album and Air Cut...their other albums are largely dispensable.

My vote went to Second Album...Young Mother and Piece of Mind are stunning tracks.

What always confuses me about Curved Air is the fact that in the natural order of things, Phantasmagoria should have been their masterpiece but sadly falls well short. Having got rid of it once, I bought it again a few years down the line as somehow I still could not believe what an indifferent record it was...and it was still as poor...

Second Album is their strongest overall effort, and Marionettes is a little and frequently overlooked masterpiece. Air Conditioning comes badly unstuck with Vivaldi (I know some people love it, but then some people love Tales From Topographic Oceans as well).

Air Cut is wonderful.

Jobson at his best, Sonia sounding sublime. 2-3-2 and Easy are great songs, but Metamorphosis is just out there.

Anyone know why this album is not available as a CD re-issue (or if it is is, where the bl00dy hell you can get it, cause I'd love to hear it again!)

Spot on CAR. "Metamorphosis" has to be the band's absolute best track.

I think Air Cut was released on CD in Japan, but why it's not generally available is indeed a mystery. My vinyl copy is well worn!

"Air Conditioning" is my favourite by far - much harder-edged and more
dynamic than their later work. My second favourite is "Curved Air Live",
although it's very different to their studio work.

Second Album, but only because I haven't heard Air Cut yet in its entirety.  Sure wish I could locate the thing (long out-of-print).  I want to put in a plug for Lovechild too, which I think deserves attention too, and has the same musicians as Air Cut.

The first four records are all excellent....but each, to me, has a cut or two that I wish weren't there.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

' Second 'album is good, 'Live' with Monkman to the fore packs a real punch, but it's AIR CUT hands down-- what a great band that one was.
Since the last post, news has come through of the release of this on CD on Repertoire records. Great news.
Looking still the same after all these years...

Second Album, but I think all first four studio albums are great.
Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
