Topic: Pink Floyds"Animals" appreciation thread Posted: February 05 2006 at 01:44 |
In my opinion, the most under-rated Floyd album.... and the parallel with George Orwell's "Animal Farm" is simply fantastic. This album deserves more love.

Ricochet: Glad to hear you love the disc, but Water's last masterpiece was The Final Cut. Another one of The Floyd's underrated(overshadowed?) albums.

haha.
Everyone always hates on The Final Cut. I think it was the perfect follow up to The Wall.

This is one of a handful of great Floyd albums that have not been spoiled by the media. Shhh... don't let anybody know.

Roger Waters claims that there is no parallel with George Orwell's "Animal Farm". He said that he didn't read it.

Not uinderrated.... loved by all PF fans! Especially the solos and the last part of Dogs are the best in PF musical history. When Rog played it in his last tour I was led to tears.

And I forgot to mention that I love "Animals". Every single note on the album.

Animals is my favourite Pink Floyd record and one of my favourite records of all time. It even has my favourite album cover!
The sort of smokey (sometimes almost jazzy) feel to this record gets me every single time, it's so musically rich and sometimes even a little dark (but not as dark as The Wall) Waters, I feel, hit his peak here.

Animals - the one with the cow on the sleeve ?? The name should speak for itself. Three great epics - any Yes fans here, it does remind of something, doesn't it??
The Floyds say they were recording it easily, opposite to Wish You Were Here, you can hear that they liked each other, they fit together perfectly, everything is in the right place and they rock much more than all the punk crap ever written.
The Wall is other story, they were forced to record it, therefore all the tension which eventually led to Roger splitting with the group, burying that Pink Floyd lineup forever (I doubt that even after Live 8 they would return and frankly, what's the point in doing so, since the tour only is not sufficient reason and I doubt they could create an album together).

yet you still have time!

Same here, Animals and The Final Cut are both great. Animals is flawless, but it's so dark that I can only give it a listen a week, any more than that and I get depressed.

I friggin love Animals
A huge Monster of an album.
The band is extremely tight. Even Nick Mason sounds better then usual.
Gilmour goes crazy on the Guitar, and some great bass licks(played by
Gilmour, not Waters, if I am correct.
Long live Floyd.
