I would believe this band was more pop rock than prog considering they have made an MTV music video and they are prominently plastered on music magazines and at my local record shop.
Yes, yes El Cielo is suppose to be amazing, but Catch Without Arms illustrates that DRedg may be making commercial concessions to receieve greater appeal.
I heard a demo cd from they did at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angelos, California. From what I hear the material on Catch Without is't bad. I like the songs "Ode to the Sun" and the title track
What do you think of this band? |

Dredg is an amazing band. El Ceilo is an incredible album, and Catch Without Arms is great too. And Lay off Catch, it's alot better than most stuff comng out nowadays. Jeeze. |

dredg is a great band. being pop never stopped Yes or Genesis from
being on the archives. Just because a band is getting popular doesnt
mean they arent prog. why dont you listen and decide for yourself you f**king
genre label obsessed tool. people like you are what gives prog fans a bad name.

Of course we can't, what kind of a stupid question is that? It's just like "Money" - it actually gets airtime (ewww), so we can't complain that it's unpopular, and if a song isn't unpopular it isn't prog. You really should have learned this by now. |

I onle have el cielo and catch without arms and from what I see Dredg has become an excellent prog band with the album el cielo. And as for catch without arms, yes they have become more comercial than el cielo BUT in catch without arms it has a lot more post-rock influence than the album el cielo. So if they become more comercial there are still some good influences of prog in their work and are alot more "intelingent" than other comercial / alternative bands out there.
p.s. as you can see, i like to use the bold for interesting stuffs |

Don't forget about dredg's first full length release, Leitmotif. It is a true conceptual masterpiece. This band has reinvented themselves with every album. Progressive?, yes they are. |

Absolutely LOVE Catch without Arms and Leitmotif (except the bonustrack which s*cks), but El Cielo took some time to grow on me weird enough

Absolutely a wonderful band indeed, and they deserve all appeal they seem to get right now. It's a good thing seeing a prog band (as that's what they are!) get some major success for a change!

Ironically I checked this band out for the first time today and then
happened to see this topic.. From what I've heard so far, I can say
that they sound interesting and that I'm definately going to be
listening to them some more soon.
