Topic: Al Di Meola recommandationsPosted: February 13 2006 at 22:49 |
|
|
I'm a new fan of Al Di Meola. I downloaded a bunch of his songs on Lime Wire and my friend sent me Romatic Warrior on MSN and I absolutely love Al Di Meola's style. I just ordered Elegant Gypsy and Land of the Midnight Sun yesterday. Next week I plan on ordering Romantic Warrior, maybe Friday Night in San Fransisco, and another one of his studio albums. I'm not sure which other studio album to get because I'm not familiar with his catalogue. I've been thinking of getting Kiss My Axe, Splendido Hotel, or maybe Infinite Desire. But my friend told me Orange and Blue is really good and recommended it to me. But I don't know. Any recommandations?

I'm not sure if it's a full fledged tour, I just know that he's on the bill to play one night at a summer music festival in my hometown (Chattanooga, TN.). |

As I have said before (though concerning Winwood perhaps), you must get at least one Go album. Live in Paris is really good and I think they just rereleased the other two studio albums (Go and Go Too)...Dimeola allll over it, but also Winwood, Schultz (Tangerine Dream) and others.

I bought Casino the other day and it's a sexy album.... I'd go as far as to say I like it more than Land of the Midnight Sun. Now I have his first three. Luckily I discovered that the Tower Records store around here has a lot of Al Di Meola (before I didn't even bother to check the top floor for some reason)... So next I'm probably gonna get Splendido Hotel and/or Infinite Desire.

I've only heard Casino, and it's a heck of an album. Certain tracks still leave me baffled, but the first couple of numbers are absolutely ace.

These 4 albums are IMO his best ones, but he usually makes quality music. But get these first
Land of the Midnight Sun Elegant Gypsy Casino Scenario Live You should also pick up the Return to Forever albums he's on (and get the rest while you're at it )Romantic Warrior Where Have I Known You Before No Mystery |

I started with Elegant Gypsy and it was a great discovery, a masterpiece IMO.
Jazz, Flamenco, Rock, heavy stuff. A very diverse album.
