Hello to all,

Rando,
Thats one of the best genres,

I recently found a great 'bonus track', don't know how rare, but worth a spin, " Why " on "Demons & Wizards".
its got some heavy bass, & idk 'bout you, but I like it.
Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.

Yeah  "Why" is an incredible bonus track.  I love the way the bass builds throughout the song towards insanity.   I like "Why" so much that I secretly count "WHY"  as part of the original "Demons & Wizards". Wink

I recommend Aurora. An awesome band. Listen to their self titled album Aurora from 77'. I'd call it Jass fusion/prog rock. A perfect mix of an ass kicking bass, energetic drums, electryfing guitar and an orgasmic violin. A must hear!

One of the very best albums that are not mentioned on progarchives (although it's a classic in its own genre) is Astor Piazzola's Tango Zero Hour. Progressive Tango if you want, it's every bit worth the immodest name "Zero Hour". Dark, dynamic, complex, melodic, instrumental, and not like anything before in tango. Much more music for listening and losing oneself in it than for dancing tango, and the quintessential bandoneon performance by the master himself (supported by the great New Tango Quintet). There is quite some progressive attitude at work here and a few quite long suites; I could well imagine that this appeals to prog fans.

An Argentinian colleague once told me that many Buenos Aires taxi drivers at the time wouldn't have driven Astor Piazzola for what he did to their tango... if that's not a sign of true progress, I don't know what is... Wink

The link is broken, but if it's Steve Hughes's 50/50 Zone I enjoy this song very much, its dorian D / Phr. B part reminds me of Lydian Bb - mixol. C part in Sting's great "The Lazarus Heart"

News: First 9 Catherine Ribeiro albums to be reissued in a box set

Posted: 24 Sep 2015 09:58 AM PDT

Thanks to an anonymous tip on our blog, we learned of this box set coming from Mercury. Details are scant, and it would appear the album has been announced before it was ready to be released. The above scan is the clearest one I could find, and comes from amazon.fr, but the entry has been removed (but captured on cache). The tip pointed to a blurred copy on amazon.de. I could not find any other data, beyond what is obvious on the box cover. This of course would close the book on Ribeiro in the digital world. I'm still hoping for individual releases, since I have 4 of the above on CD already (from Mantra in the 90s). Maybe I will ultimately give in. We'll see. This is the second box set from Mercury in recent years, the first one featured albums 2 through 5. Anyway, great news for Ribeiro fans, especially for those of you who do not own any of her CDs prior.
