They are Prog Rock, are they??

I have never heard of Stomu Yamashta but I am very intrigued......what a line-up!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's one of the the Go line-ups. What about the rest

We've debated Yamashta last summer, when somebody (wrongly in my mind) want to have the Go band included, under that name. The argument was for the complete Stomu Yamashta catalogue - in other words we are still working on it. Yamashta fits into the jazz rock fusion section, with the prevalent mix of jazz, Japanese and rock musics in his work.  Excellent back catalogue of recordings including Red Buddah Theatre, Stomu Yamashta Group, also a couple of film sound tracks (including Ken Russell's The Devils) made for Island Records in the 70's, with members of the future Brand X, (Pert), Gary Boyle (later Isotope), Hugh Hopper (former Machine, later Isotope) and Yamashta's wife playing an interesting violin. A real pity Island did not have the resources to remaster and issue any of these albums on CD - maybe WEA will get round to it . An Aussie label issued the complete Go works last year on a double CD.

In passing the original jazz rock of Suntreader one and only recording, by two members of Red Buddah Theatre is worth tracking down - this was originally released on Island's cheapo LP label HELP.
