Echolyn, one of the most well known of all modern prog bands and one of the groups to kick of the prog resurgence in the 90's will be headlining this years Progday on Saturday. For those who don't know, Progday is an annual two day outdoor progressive rock festival held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in the USA on Labor Day weekend. Other bands announced so far include Woodenhead and Hamster Theatre. To  keep up with further announcements including the next headliner please go to www.progday.com.

Echolyn reunited in early 2000, played at the preshow at Nearfest that summer, I believe just after "cowboy poems free" came out, then played Nearfest proper as the fourth band on the bill in 2002 promoting their latest at the time called "mei." They just released a new album last year called "the end is beautiful." It's the only studio album by them I haven't heard so far but I hope I can hear it before their Progday show. If anyone has heard it please feel free to comment on it. I'm in PA too by the way(just north of Philly)and if everything goes right this will be my third trip to Progday.

I have heard the end is beautiful. I still am always drawn back to As the World. I don`t personally think they made any duds. The only american band I like better is Happy the Man.

Kansas is the greatest american prog band of all time in my opinion but I like Echolyn and Spock's Beard a lot too. Happy the Man is great too but I kind of have to be in the mood for them. They were pretty good at last years prog day but they are kind of predictable to me. Echolyn tend to be kind of predictible live but are still a great band.

Leary, if you haven't heard "The End Is Beautiful" (2005) by Echolyn yet you're really screwing yourself over. The album is one of their best, and a personal favorite.

Like i stated in my earlier post I have heard the End and still like As the World better. I don`t remember why I thought Echolyn broke up but I am glad they didn`t. To prog traveller why did you have to tell the forum about my attraction to Britney spears that ain`t cool.
