"Il Grande Gioco" (1974) Line-up: Maurizio Rota (vocals, percussion)
A five-piece of very good musicians from Rome, Albero Motore (or Alberomotore as it was sometimes written) were aided and produced by 60's singer-guitarist Ricky Gianco who helped them with a recording deal with the newly born Intingo label. Il grande gioco seems one of those rock-inspired singer-songwriters' albums so popular in Italy during the 70's, with much more space to the voice than to lead instruments, prog influences are minimal, with honky piano and american-styled guitar licks to the fore, helped by a good voice, and the album is a nice listening though with no particular merits. After the LP, a single was released a year later, then the group disbanded. Some of the band members played in other artists' albums, with Fernando Fera being the most successful of them as a well known sessionman and film music composer.

dont give up, Andrew, we got you in Italy, oliverstoned in France, Baldies in Germany and Sean in Belgium. Thats much better than a year ago!
think people look at your suggestions, but being rarities probably only the Italian prog lovers would search these out, which may take a while. You may not get a response but others have a reference now instead of the artist/album being lost to history. Someday only those commercially tauted will be re-released, but if demand requires maybe they will be brought back to life again for the world to enjoy! |
