Here's what I got:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111) in /home/www/lcr1350h/dans_incs/connect.inc.php on line 6
Could not connect to database - please try again later.

Not very exciting.

Be assured I'm f***ed off by this, this is no way to run a radio station which relies on weblisteners. I'm kicking arse this end and hope problems sorted by the time of my next show 8pm (GMT) next Thursday night.

Have a heart Dick. Cutting edge technology often breaks down. Please don't kick too many bottoms. Programmers are human too.

Bob

This has been a problem in the past, which I hoped had gone away with the installation of new PC dedicated to the job - hence the frustration with the problem reappearing after 18 months. We like listeners - and besides if the web is down, then there is only a crappy AM local transmission, of which we ask "Who listens to that nowadays?". The future is digital broadcasting, of which webcasting is one important means especially when anybody around the world can download. After Tony's praise - thanks Tony for the kind words - and recommendation, it is annoying that somebody who made the effort to check us out failed because of technical problems. However, in defence of our management, the Station manager response today is:

(QUOTE)

Getting quite puzzled by this...I have tested the webcast on multiple computers now and it seems to be working fine. The only explanations i can think are that either the webcast already had reached the finite limit of the number of listeners it can support at once (unsure of the exact number, but presumably (UNIVERSITY) computing services don't grant us unlimited bandwidth) or a problem at the listeners end. If the latter is the case and it's due to their computer blocking certain scripting languages, they can try the second link on the listen live page which should open away from the website.

Not entirely sure what to suggest otherwise, but i'll keep monitoring the situation

Pete

(END OF QUOTE)

It has also been suggested that listeners may like to retry the link, or if the listener is using an Apple, then there might be a minor resolvable problem with the use of Windows software to hear the stream.

Should have added that I have a MD recording of last night's show, and after some minor editing, conversion into MP3 format, it will be transmitter as a stream when we aren't broadcasting live, i.e. during the early hours.  Information will be provided when sorted.

I couldnt log on originally, remember I alerted you to this Dick. The only way I could get "in" was to use Google to search for LCR and got onto a page on the general LCR website. Then had to alter the page address and managed to reach the Home Page. Then got to the webcast link.

Alternatively,I could just have been lucky....

Great show by the way!
