For Immediate Release:

NEAL MORSE Releases ONE on November 2nd on Radiant Records

ONE Is the Follow-up to the Former Spock’s Beard Member’s acclaimed TESTIMONY

Special Edition Available with Bonus Disc

Vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter Neal Morse examines spiritual themes via a compelling storyline on his new album One through Radiant Records. A special-edition version with a bonus disc will also be available.

One is a fictional work, but it is the perfect companion to Morse's 2003 deeply autobiographical, critically acclaimed double CD Testimony. Whereas Testimony examined Morse's life-changing spiritual journey and embrace of Christianity, One dramatizes one man's separation from God.  "I just started writing some things and it took on this direction of another concept album. I surrendered to the idea early on. The storyline of One is about a man leaving God and trying to become his own god," Morse says, formerly a member of the progressive rock band Spock's Beard and the progressive rock super-group Transatlantic.

The songs on One include:

The Creation (18:22)

I) One Mind

II) In a Perfect Light

III) Where Are You?

IV) Reaching from the Heart

The Man’s Gone (2:50)

Author of Confusion (9:30)

The Separated Man (17:58)

I) I’m in a Cage

II) I am The Man

III) The Man’s Gone (Reprise)

IV) Something Within Me Remembers

Cradle to the Grave (4:55)

Help Me/The Spirit and the Flesh (11:13)

Father of Forgiveness (5:46)

Reunion (9:11)

I) No Separation

II)Grand Finale

III) Make Us One

The bonus disc includes three extra songs, one alternate version and four cover songs:

Back to the Garden (4:26)

Nothing to Believe (3:29)

Cradle to the Grave (Neal's Voc) (4:55)

King Jesus (4:48)

What Is Life? (4:28)

Where The Streets Have No Name (5:46)

Day After Day (3:25)

Chris Carmichael's Aria (1:07)

I'm Free / Sparks (6:36)

Bass guitarist Randy George and Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy joined Morse for the writing and recording of One at his own home studio in Nashville, TN. They were part of his Testimony touring band. Vocalist/guitarist Phil Keaggy makes a special guest appearance.

The music is diverse on One. Everything from lush strings (real violins, cello and bass) to thundering guitar raveups ("Those heavy parts were heavier than I was expecting because of the great sound I got from borrowed guitar gear," Morse chuckles) fit perfectly side by side to magnify the power of the songs' messages. At first, Morse was experiencing a case of writer's block.  "I struggled with it in the writing process," he admits. "I knew the concept early on, but I prayed that I needed help and I put my trust in the Lord. Then Randy came here last April and saw what I was working on and made some lyrical and musical suggestions that were perfect. Mike was amazing at arranging songs. Every day was an unveiling."

Morse feels truly blessed to have the ability to write, record and perform music that brings a positive message and can change people's lives. He wants his diverse music to be enjoyed by everyone from progressive rock fans to contemporary gospel music fans.

"It's definitely in me to do this music. It all comes from an honest place," says Morse. "Music is like spiritual food. Not everybody has the same taste, but God wants everybody to be fed."
