We had a discussion about this before among some collabs and decided it would be best for him to stay in the Canterbury section. Some thought he might fit better in Prog-related, but I have no problem being in Canterbury, considering he was an important figure in the Canterbury scene, even if all his albums aren't Prog.

Art-Rock's too vague a description. I definitely think he fits better in Canterbury.

"Shooting at the Moon" and the epic "The Confessions of Dr. Dream" from the album of the same name....   More progressive than some of the stuff on the site.

I think my conclusion was that the opening two or three albums are Canterbury, Confessions Of Dr. Dream is art-rock, and that most of the rest is prog-related ...

So much for pigeon-holing an artiste, eh?
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Yup , this was my case!!

I think he is too much of a pop writer with his hippy ideal to be considered rock or Art Rock >> I was for him being placed in Prog related

But I lost out on Zac and Trouserpress, so it stayed.

I managed to make an excellent compilation of his album, and even progressive at that

His two proggiest albums are Shooting At The Moon and Confessions Of Dr Dream

Of course, Kevin Ayers is prog!! The opening track of Whatevershebringswesing alone is worth the classification. OK! "J'étais perdu dans la rue, fatigué et mal au cul" is not that prog (from the album June 1st, 1974 with Eno and Nico)
