I know, I know..why talk about DF on a prog site? Its just that if I selected my top 20 desert island discs, there would be a lot of prog, there would be classics, there would be jazz, there would be Zep, there might be a Van Morrison LP....but always there would be some Steely Dan/Donald Fagen.
Its only taken DF almost 25 years to complete his trilogy of solo albums, and while nothing much gets close to the brilliance of his first album, The Nightfly, his latest Morph the Cat betters the second Kamikiriad by some way, and shows the man at his relaxed, mellow, effortless best. If you appreciate Steely Dan then you really will like this - it's better, IMHO, than the last 2 'Dan albums. Cutting, satirical comment on our post 9/11 world.....wrapped up in great tunes, great arrangements, excellent musicianship. So, sorry for mentioning it, but it has been 25 years you know.....
