Will go tonite to a Mago de oz gig, in my hometown Caracas (in order to escort my 15 years old daughter, huge whatever-metal fan). What should I expect?

They are not a prog rock band. In Spain nobody take them too seriously. But yes, you can expect "party party".

Fascinating band in my opinion. It's not prog but very solid and inventive folk-power metal.

I like them, they can be a little cheesy at times, but their blend of folk/power/metal is inventive and a nice change of pace compared to other power bands.

I recommend their Finisterra or Gaia albums.

Well, i have to say that the concert overpassed my expectatiions. Those dudes can really play hard rock, and in the same time can be mellow. I liked them a lot (nothing to to with prog, on the other hand, its more a folk/metal with some celtics reminescenses from time to time). They have a very talented guitar player (there are 3 of them in the band, but one in particular stolen the show).
Please forgive me for my crappy english!

I`m from Spain, in fact, nobody takes them seriously (nobody progger). They aren't prog. It's just some kind of heavy metal band with flute and violins.

Well, not being a great band they are not so bad at all. There are a lot of things worst out there.

We were always be much human than we whish to be.

Good band since La leyenda de la mancha up until Gaia (some may say Belfast). It's a shame that their last album is awful but a really nice 20+ minute epic ans some other good songs

mago de oz may have a very funny show and all you want...

but if we strictly talk about music... Cry,  i say that, obviously nothing to do with prog, they still are a horrible band.
i would not recommend anybody to see them alive. and i have good reasons.
i have seen them alive and i felt some kind of swindle.
their albums are really bad, even if you like heavy metal music. there's nothing spectacular about adding some violins.
you should know their drummer does never play the kick drum alive. it's not serious.

Well, thats your point of view. I really can't see why a person will revive an old thread just to bash a band. They do have some great albums (La leyenda de la mancha, Finisterra and Gaia are all good albums). The only thing I agree is that they aren't 100% prog, but still they carry some prog influences most notably in Gaia. Obviously you will feel swindle if you don't like them. Now, I'm not a fan boy (I was), but I find this to be just plain sad.

Thumbs Down
