I've only included those who have sung on albums with Sabbath

I think Dio is a better singer but Ozzy was the best singer for Sabbath.

What the hell are you all talking about? Ronnie Dio brought a breath of fresh air to Sabbath whose best thing for them was dithering Ozzy's departure.

As with Rainbow, Dio was the catalyst who brought epic length songs to both bands.

Don't get me wrong, Ozzy did his fair share of calssics with Sabbath, but Dio completely brought the band to new musical realms. I mean, Ozzy couldn't have sang 'Children of the Sea', 'Mob Rules', 'Die Young' and the like, could he?

^^^I agree with you that Dio brought new life into Sabbath. All at the perfect time, when the new wave of British Heavy Metal was reallly picking up speed. They fit right in with Maiden,Priest et-al. I don't feel however that Dio was nearly as good as Oz. Ozzy's voice set the tone for Sabbaths sound. I just couldn't imagine songs like Paranoid, SnowBlind or Sweetleaf being sung in Dio's operatic way.

Dio.  Ozzy may have been more of a showman, but his vocal abilities have been all smoke and mirrors for decades.

Ozzy is better than Dio any day.  Ozzy is THE singer for black sabbath.  no substitutes accepted.

Ronnie James Dio! One of the greatest voices of entire rock history!

According to me BSabbath and Rainbow both was the best with him.

This is a duplicate poll ... I remember that the old one turned out exactly as the first post suggests here.

Who has woted DIO 7 times ??? that's mad.... Black Sabbath was so much better with Ozzy or infact i cant even call black sabbath with another singer.. Black Sabbath did some very intresting heavy albums like Vol 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath ( they included prog influences ) Especially Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is really great !! Tony Iommi is an original guitarist and made very original riffs

Hmm...to be honest I never felt Ozzy was ever a bad singer (I've heard far worse in metal bands- Vince Neil, Bret Michaels, Phil Lewis...yes all 'glam metal' vocalists) and in fact think his voice works extremely well with the music. Sure, Dio is technically better, but Ozzy's vocals were the main way people could identify Sabbath- with their other vocalists it's a great deal harder to tell them apart from other acts. Gillan's stint was fun in a Spinal Tap sort of way but his appalling takes on 'Heaven and Hell' and 'Black Sabbath' in concert must be a nadir of the the metal genre in a sense. Glenn Hughes cluttered the OK 'Seventh Star' somewhat with some typically OTT histrionics, and really, Tony Martin was something of a Dio clone. So Ozzy has to get the vote from me!

I voted for Dio because the first BS album I've heard was "Heaven And Hell".

Each singer made great contribution in BS music, I like them all.

As a singer (vocalist) Ozzy is the worst, but he is the one and only true voice of BLACK SABBATH.

I'm not a great fan of "Born Again" album with Ian Gillan. But '83 live recording "King Bisquit Flower Hour Presents. Black Sabbath Live In Worcester" shows how good Gillan was on stage with BS. He not only sang the song "Black Sabbath", he even played it as an actor. The album has lots of great moments, even the performance of "Smoke On The Water".

Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour)

Dio and Gillan are way better vocalists than Ozzy but he is the true voice of Sabbath. Anyway records that Dio made with Black Sabbath kick ass!!!
