There were great bands from the sixties! What's your favourite band from this great era? Was thinking of trying to keep away from more prog/rock bands & see what everyone's other choice was,but if prog/rock bands are your fave stick them in! Mine:
               1.Small Faces
               2.Dave Clark Five
               3.The Action
In the constellation of cygnus,There lurks a mysterious force...The black hole

nice topic.. in probably the wrong area hahahha

1. Jefferson Airplane
2. The Beatles
3. Cream
4. The Supremes (and throw the whole Motown scene in there... songs we all can sing along to.. and know like the back of our hands.... James Jamerson, Benny 'Papa Zita' Benjamin... the GREATEST rhythm section EVER in rock/popular music... if you aren't dancing and singing along.. you have no pulse)
5. early (Peter Green era) Fleetwood Mac

Vanilla Fudge was a wonderful and very exciting blend of rock, blues, classic, psychedelia and soul, loaded with great work on the Hammond B3 organ, powerful vocals, splendid guitar and a dynamic rhythm-section. In my opinion an overlooked band on this site.

Other great Sixties bands (not on this site): Jefferson Airplane, Spencer Davis Group, Dave Edmund's Rockpile, Love, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Misunderstood, The Shadows, Fleetwood Mac, The Ventures, The Rolling Stones, Cream, The Doors ... I wish I was born 10 years earlier (I am from 1960  ) ..........

  1. Arthur Brown
  2. The Doors
  3. The Who
  4. Jefferson Airplane
  5. Canned Heat
  6. Sweatwater (Psychedelia with cello and flute, they should be here)
  7. The Bonzo Dog Band
  8. Jefferson Airplane
  9. The Mamas and the Papas
  10. Santana (Would be rated higher for his work in the 70's)

Iván

  1. Beach Boys
  2. Beatles
  3. Buffalo Springfield

The classic 3, all B, like Bach / Beethoven / Brahms, another classic top 3

No, honestly, I think I would put Traffic on nr. 3, because of their first two albums, which weren't yet prog in my opinion.

Love would be a runner-up: Forever Changes is brilliant!

It's difficult to choose just three bands but at this moment they would likely be

    1) Rolling Stones

    2) Kinks

    3) Beatles

If you limit it to three:

    Beatles, Stones, Who

The Kinks would be my number one, after that I'm not really sure who I would include...
