As someone who doesn't usually get much out of power metal, I have to say that I've become completely immersed in this album to the point where I would easily rank it among my top 20 of all time.  Whether Kamelot are actually prog may be open for debate, but their brilliant songwriting ability and emotionally driving sound have pushed my acceptance of what this genre is capable of far beyond any boundaries I may have previously considered in place.  This album has done for my view on power metal what Opeth's Blackwater Park did for how I see death metal, undeniably one of the most impressive metal albums of our time.  Other Kamelot albums have mildly impressed me, but this simply destroys them all.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this glorious release?

I completely agree! The Black Halo is fast becoming one of my all time favorites. Karma is really good too. Roy Khan is one of the best singers in metal today.

I agree completely ... read my review for details. I also agree with Hollow Man that Karma is also very good ... my second favorite Kamelot album, with Epica next (don't know why most people prefer Epica over Karma).
