Topic: Citizen Cain sounds like... Posted: April 12 2006 at 01:44 |
...the way I feel IQ should sound nowdays. My only problem: I want IQ to sound like they should. Finding mi expectations fulfilled by another -not IQ, but "IQ I wish "like - is somehow problematic. I don't know why. I have this thing for real things. Anyway, Citizen Cain sounds fine... the rest has to do with my own problems...

Citizen Cain are a very talented band.
So is IQ

So is IQ | No doubt about it, in both cases. But the fact that the imaginery of Citizen Cain is so clearly driven, and that their musical work is full with the adventurous imagination that DIED on IQ bothers me. I love Early IQ works, as I said many times, so many unexpected resources applied with such fresh imagination; and suddenly; a crush into a weird pop period, and then, the boring self-revival...

Well, to be more accurated with my complain; perhaps I should say that A mix between Citizen Cain and NIL would produce the sound I want for IQ. (Some people are going to come after me for this)...

Citizen Cain sounds like.... GENESIS Full Stop Singer is Peter Gabriel and some work on are just a re-edition of something by Banks/Rutherford/Hackett They are good, especially the first "Somewhere but Yesterday" and "serpents in camouflage". The other abums suffer from the fact that CC had some loss of personal and the number of musician was few. Nonetheless is a recommended listening.

Yes, I've been told they sound just like Genesis. I have the album to listen to, but as I don't have any Genesis to compare it to, I'll have to make up my mind at a later date.

Apparently so, so much so infact, that you cannot tell the difference sometimes (so I've been told).

Citizen Cain sounds like... Genesis should in the 80's and so on.....
Very good band, and, to me, much better than Marillion and all others influenced by Gabriel-era Genesis.

They sound like Genesis with some slight Jethro Tull thrown in. I really love Somewhere But Yesterday, even if CC aren't original.

There's even a Moody Blues song that sounds like Jethro Tull.
I still have Citizen Cain to listen to, I shall do so in good time.

Yes,CC sounds like Genesis."SbutY" sounds like a reincarnation of "Foxtrot".Junk and Donuts(a riff in the chorus reminding me of JT's Beside Myself) is my fav song from them(a fav epic is Somewhere but Yesterday) But excuse me...IQ MUST sound like IQ.I absolutely like "Dark Matter" - I think it's their best.Just look what has happened with PENDRAGON and MARILLION.Are you prefer "Believe" to "Dark Matter" or "Seventh House"? "Ever" was a bit usual."Subterranea" was too spacy."Seventh House" has few so-so tracks - Zero Hour and Shooting Angels."Dark Matter" is brilliant(and I know that Harvest of Souls sounds much closer to Supper's Ready than even Grendel does!!!).I wonder what they'd create the next time

IQ - is my favorite Prog band. They are brilliant!
Marillion is my biggest disappointment.
