HOELDERLIN: AN OTHER LOST CLASSIC PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND Hoelderlin emerged from the kraut-folk scene in the beginning of the seventies, delivering a fantastic approach of dreamy, angelic folk songs written by a rock formation. With the delicate "introspective" female voice of Nanny, Christian Grumcow (guitars) and his team have recorded "Traum"" in 1972. This is a stylistic, very accomplished prog-folk album which culminates the genre. The album includes guests: the folk artists Witthuser and Westrupp for percussive, exotic and "acid" musical sequences. This psych-atmospheric folk masterpiece was recorded in the studio of Dieter Dierk (responsible of many krautrock important recordings). In 1975 with their self title album the band shows a new direction, from a rather "dreamy", "cosmic" folk "trip" they changed to a symphonic rock but with a certain success. For instance "Clowns and clouds" and "rare birds" feature impressive, grandiose "chamber" orchestrations and sonic melodies. The band breaks out in 1981 after the commercial success of "Fata Morgana" Similar bands: Emtidi, Broselmaschine, Novalis Please share about your Hoelderlin´s musical experience

Indeed, Holderlin's traum is a big classic of psyche folk and the traum's piece is the most accomplished.
What about their first opus? |

It is pure symphonic rock with discreet acoustic parts...this one is less melodic that their previous "Clowns and clouds" but features some incredible "sonic" arrengements...however according to me, none of their later albums reach the same level of intensity provided by "Traum". from German symphonic- krautrock universe NOVALIS is just the cream of the cream Edited by philippe |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |
