Topic: Ice Age change name and style Posted: April 18 2006 at 08:32 |
|
I was recently browsing the internet and looking for info on some bands
I listen to, and I came across ICe Age's home page. It stated that not
only have the band changed their stlye of music to a more stripped
down, modern rock approach, but their name has been changed also, to
'soulfractured' (one word). I checked out that website, which seemed
pretty interesting, and listened to a few of the sound samples, and i
am worried that perhaps we have lost one of the better prog-metal bands
out there. The sample songs show a much more restrained and streamlined
approach to music, bordering on generic hard-rock morseo that
prog-metal. A pity I suppose, but you never know...they are only
samples after all, and a new album should be in the works soon.
The website is www.soulfractured.com if you wanna check this out
If this news is old hat, my apologies, but i found no thread on it.
Edit: Oops, put this in the wrong forum. Admins, feel free to transfer this to prog news etc.

Give them credit for changing their name to reflect their new musical style.
Genesis should have done that in the 80's. .

The situation is different ... if Ice Age had been hugely successful with their music, I guess that they would have changed neither their style nor their name.
But I can understand if they say that they want to be a popular band. I'm looking forward to listening to their music, prog or not.

I only have their first album, one that I really enjoy. I had hope that they would continue to evolve in a proggier style. Well, good luck to them.

This is absolutely terrible news.
One of the better prog metal bands decides to sell out and go commercial.
So much for artistic integrity.

To me this is old news, I have been sad about the loss of Ice Age for awhile now .. its hard to understand why they are no longer prog, the only thing I can think of is that they were only going along with "trends" at the time they were prog metal. Liberation is a great prog metal CD .. Josh I hope you know what you are doing because there was more money in prog metal than what you are now doing , you cut your own throat man
(BTW Mastermind have done the same thing they are no longer what I would call prog as well)

Well, nobody knows how they develop and what their final music is like!
I've seen it already last year, so no new information, but I thought they released a new album yet, but as it seems just an EP.

Ice Age have turned into a NU metal band and don`t plan on turning prog again , they were left with a bad taste in their mouths after their record label Magna Carta let them down in a big way . I have heard an MP3 from the new version of Ice Age and (it wasn`t very interesting)

Magna Carta has a way of alienating a lot of artists.
