I have earlier emphasized that my opinions about new additions are influenced by the fact that many doubtful bands (subjective, I agree) like Talk Talk, Max Webster, Triumph, ELO, etc. are added so in my opinion Jeff Beck deserves it too because his outstanding albums Wired and There And Back. I am looking forward to review these albums on this site!

no doubt - first time I saw that video it instantly put the albums in perspective for me.
Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist. |

No one knows what the purpose of it originally was or if it had a purpose at all. Personally I think it was a pure artistic creation from the beginning.

I watched the video, it does make one see it in a completely different light, seems much more interesting! And he doesn´t use a plectrum at all!!

it is hard to get into his techno-esque stuff at first. However once you figure out that all those sounds are being made by a live band, and can be played live off the floor. Here is a video - http://youtube.com/watch?v=wHaRAfxLd7g&search=jeff%20beck I heard some of his techno albums first, and turned it off immediately - then I saw videos like the one above, and those albums are actually really fun listens now. I bought "Who Else!" last year and it was a sort of techno album! Maybe I will investigate his early stuff, but that album wasn´t that great.

I think that Jeff Beck would be a nice prog related addition. Give Mr. Vai some company!

I believe that in this more "inclusive" clime, JB belongs here.
He's a quintessential "multi-genre" artist, though -- difficult to categorize, IMO.

I agree whole-heartedly. If having a catalog that's not exclusively prog disqualifies candidacy, how is Genesis here? (Not saying this to be incendiary, just making an observation) |

that would have been awesome - Johnny Winter is another one of my favorite guitarists
No doubt, I can't wait till I finally get another chance to see him - his playing is mind-boggling
thanks no doubt, I love that whole album (got it on vinyl for my birthday a few months back). Pretty much everything I have seen him do has captured me - much in the same way bands like Rush, Frank Zappa, and (recently) Genesis, and ELP have as well |

I was going to go to the San Francisco show but I ended up not going as well. That's not the only show I've missed in the area though. This list is enough to make any man weep but here it is, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, the Mars Volta, and Johnny Winter. Once, shame on a sold-out show, 4 times , shame on me. |

Hey Crazy Chester....don't forget Beck's Bolero from Truth. I would say that it's very progressive considering the time frame. Cool moniker by the way.

I cant reccomend highly enough that you go see him. Get as close as you can and you will see why he is a legend. No effects, no pick, just him and his guitar. The range of sounds he gets is nothing short of phenomenal. A must see concert for anyone who likes guitar!
