I just picked this CD up this month. I'm quite impressed. Any other fans out there?

I have a chance to see them next month and have yet to hear them... I see they're under the Art Rock category, so I was curious as to what they sound like?
Any similarities or obvious influences? |

Highly original Alternative Rock with Progressive leanings. But don't anybody dare to move them to Prog Related!

I know I'm not going to do them justice with this description, and I'll add the caveat that I've only heard the album twice thus far... To my ears so far, they sound similar to Radiohead at times; the singer's voice reminds me of Curt Smith of Tears for Fears for some reason (very pleasant). The drummer's got a pretty interesting style. In fact, the whole feel of the band to me is that just when you think you know where they're going next... they surprise you. Not in a jarring way, just in an interesting way. The soundscapes are very hauntingly pretty. |

Cool, well I don't know whether to try and get hold of an album before going to Download Festival, or taking pot luck and hoping I enjoy them... not obviously knowing any of their material.
I'll see if I can get an album of theirs. I'm sure they're staying in Art Rock, Mike! |

Dredg is a great band. I got to know them through a friend who was raving about their last album Catch without Arms and as soon as I'd heard it, I was completely sold.
After that I listened to El Cielo, but it was a bit of a disappointment after hearing Catch without Arms (most of the time it is the other way around with people, when it comes to this band). But then I listen to their debut album -and enjoyed that one- I decided to give EL Cielo another go and somehow it worked then

El Cielo takes more time to grow than the other two.

<----- dredg fan.
although I like Catch Without Arms, I think it's a move in the wrong direction, and I'd like to see more stuff like El Cielo. |

El Cielo has quickly become one of my all time favorite albums, a true landmark in modern music. The other two are excellent as well, although neither is as ambitious and powerful.

El Cielo is an amazing piece of work. Deffinitely their best (but their other albums rule too). If you get a chance to see this band live, do it.

Yes, Dredg is a nice band, Catch without arms was definately one of bigger dissapointments in music for me.

Dredg is an excellent band. El Cielo is a great album and very accesible too. Those dreamy sounds they made is the thing that sold me. I bought Catch without arms some time ago and it isn't better as El Cielo but its still a very good album although I agree with GoldenSpiral about making a move in the wrong direction.

el cielo is absolutely brilliant, i like catch without arms too, but not nearly as much, leitmotif isnt great, but not bad.... saw them live at taste of chaos, went JUST for them, and they put on an amazing live show as well

Yes. Dredg is fantastic. I have Leitmotif album. I bought a cd called Dacing Echoes/Dead Sounds from Codeseven. This band is very good and they have some similarities with Dredg.

Leitmotif takes the cake for me. That's all the Dredg I need.
