Jobson was such a good fit when Way stepped out...
As far as the poll goes, it's a toss up between Everdance and Everdance, but you seem to have forgotten about Everdance. Tongue  So, of course, I had to vote for Everdance.

Metamorphosis is an all-time fave so this was easy. Why? Young Edwin Jobson's florid piano, sublime violin and an all-around virtuoso performance. Kirby's guitar tone was perfect, Russell marshalling the drums precisely and Sonja spirited vocals. Wonderful stuff!
"Secret career in counter-espionage, covering his fear in clever camouflage" Robert Calvert . "I don't remember, I don't recall, I've got no memory of anything at all"

I scanned the list three or four times wondering why I couldn't see Marie Antoinette.   I finaly relised that it wasn't there.  A bit like not including Bohemian Rhapsody in a Queen poll.

Curved Air produced so much good stuff that was of an incredibly even quality.  They didn't scale the absolute heights of some other prog bands which is probably why they don't get the attention they deserve.  There was no album masterpiece but there were no low points either.  I wish more bands had made such extensive use of the electric violin.

I voted for Vivaldi because of the excitement it produced when performed live.

I believe there was no room for Marie Antoinette due to the two Everdances. Time to get the Guillotine! Tongue
Speaking of prog artists using the electric violin: Kansas, Dixie Dregs, King Crimson, Jean Luc Ponty, Gentle Giant, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Big%20smile (who am I leaving out here?...)

You chopped the wrong song i reckon Smile.  The three songs that were most called for on the three or four occasions i saw Curved Air were Vivaldi, Marie Antoinette and Back Street Luv.

Its A Beautiful Day did alot of good electric violin, especially on their first album (in which they also invented the riff that Deep Purple pinched for Child in Time).

East of Eden are another underrated band who did good stuff with the violin.  Great live band.

I did not chop that song.  'Tis not my poll.  Hmm, haven't heard any East of Eden...

Apologies. I was too eager to continue the revolutionary metaphor to check.

Check out East of Eden if you get the chance - some very interesting experiments but generally within a recognisable song format.
