Sonia Kristina has a wonderful voice. A unique band.

I love all these songs, but I voted for the quirky 'Over and Above' myself. My favorite right now. Normally only Gentle Giant got away with throwing in that amount of ideas and strange melodies in one song. Dark and fun.

You are also very welcome to reply. Tell us what song and if you want to, why.

I voted for Vivaldi as it is the piece that got me into Curved Air when I saw them perform it on television.

As it doesn't feature Sonia though I would like to have a second pick and that'd be "It Happened Today" which is marvelous, IMHO.

Wow! I had no idea Vivaldi was so popular. Always thought of it as a kind of novelty track myself. I Even thought of leaving it out of the poll.

My other favorite 'Young Mother' has no votes yet.

And why is Curved Air so little known? Check them out everyone. Second Album is a great starting point, and a great album.

   Thanks ROCKTOPUS for starting such a nice thread about the great band CURVED AIR. Such a spot on choice of songs , but alas there are just too many good ones to make just one selection.
 
   Because I'm such an out and out AIR CUT fan and having been painted into a corner to make a choice , after a great deal of reflection it's EASY-- outstanding along with just about anything else from AIR CUT.
 
  Now, my non- AIR CUT selection is the more accessible BACK STREET LUV. Yes, I know it was released as a single, but that thematic riff throughout, to me, is a winner. [ I did only cast 1 vote]
Looking still the same after all these years...

I think Vivaldi is great, but I voted for Back Street Luv, as this one's got me interested in Curved Air. And it's so catchy.

Your welcome mrgd. I'm happy you were pleased my choice of songs. Curved Air's last brilliant album Air Cut's 'Easy' is a wonderful power ballad, the way they used to sound. Should have been a big hit.

'Back Street Luv' is such a perfect art-rock single. I think it actually reached no. 5 in the UK charts. Its the first song I heard by them (about five years ago).

I voted for Metamorphosis - a great and unusual track.
 
I saw Curved Air in the '70s at Cardiff Castle - Status Quo were headlining, but the crowd wanted much more from from Sonia and the band and much less from Rick Parfitt... the band were so tight and innovative, a sharp contrast to Quo's straight-ahead rock - which was okay but after the vituoso play of Darryl Way, Francis Monkman et al just didn't cut it...

Oh wow. I would have loved to see Sonia and her fantastic group live. Too bad all the concerts I wan't to be at happened ca. 30-35 years ago, and not in Norway.

I've recently got into CA, and I must say they're a great band. Sonja's voce is very fascinating, being slightly deeper than the usual soprano tone of most female singers (as is my own voice). BTW, I voted for the gorgeous "Metamorphosis", a fantastic composition by the equally gorgeous Eddie Jobson Heart. The piano solo is to die for!

One of the best 70s prog acts, imho. I voted 'Metamorphosis' as it's a real knockout epic with one of the all time great keyboard showcases from a then 17 year old Eddie Jobson!! I could easily have voted for many others, though.

'Metamorphosis' - one of those rare cases in which a band reaches its ultimate musical style with an unusual line-up: as much as I admire Monkman and Way as writers, Jobson surpassed both immensely with this dynamic epic, full of catchy beauty, clever mood shifts and tight performances.
 
Yes, Present and Gentle Giant have also released masterpieces with non-classic line-ups, but this is a case in which the classic line-up really falls short from an unusual one.
