I'd like to present you all a good polish group named Skaldowie. I've bought four of their albums lately (on two CDs): Krywan Krywan, Od Wschodu Do Zachodu Slonca, Cala Jestes W Skowronkach, Ty.

They started in the 60s as a rather poppy band (big beat as we called it in Poland back then, 'cause the term "rock" didn't stand well with communistic authorities of Poland) but later (in the 70s) released two good prog albums including aforementioned Krywan Krywan (the second one was Stworzenia Swiata Czesc Druga - but I don't have it yet). Let their leader Andrzej Zielinski speak (translation by me): I'm interested in symphonic rock, using in rock music forms derived from classical music.

As for Krywan Krywan it contains a nearly eighteen minutes long suite Krywaniu Krywaniu based on a traditional polish highlander ballad which is the leitmotiv of the piece. You can also hear classical motives and even quotations from such composers works as Bach, Mussorgski, Borodin or Rossini.

From the other albums I've got, Ty and Od Wschodu Do Zachodu Slonca I would label as borderline prog (prog pop). The latter one begins and ends with a travesty of Sarabande by A. Corelli.

All in all they deserve inclusion to the archives I believe.

I have only Krywan Krywan and Stworzenia Swiata Czesc Druga on one CD.
Both are very good prog albums, both have long epics.
But I never heard any of their other albums.

Do Polish proggers have something to say about Skaldowie, maybe? Do you agree with me?

Don't have any of their albums, but the band is known rather from their 'not very proggy' side...

And... silence...

Has the band been accepted? Or has it been rejected?

How long does it take for a band suggestion to pass trough prog archives bureaucracy?

So, what about them?
Will they be added?

They're on a very long list. Try contacting a member of the relevant genre team to see if they will add them.

Ok. I'm too impatient I guess.

For Italian speaking members: http://www.arlequins.it/pagine/articoli/corporetro.asp?chi=45

For Spanish speaking members: http://www.manticornio.com/rock-progresivo/S/SKALDOWIE/skaldowie.html

I hope that might help.
