How many women are there in progressive music, especially ones who sing? The only one that I've come across on this site was Kate Bush (unless I'm blind), she can't be the only one.

There's a lot.
I'm not a big expert though...
Tori Amos
Simone Simons (epica)
The girl from Night wish...

There's a lot more, I just don't know their names.
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

How about Aimee Mann. Not in the archives (probably shouldn't be) but she's semi prog related Wink

Check out Glass Hammer (Lex Rex, Shadowlands, Live At NEARFest, and The Inconsolable Secret). They use a few female vocalists and they add such beauty to their sound.

Don't forget  Patronella from Paatos. The best instrument in that band is her voice.

The Northettes, most importantly Barbara Gaskin and Amanda Parsons, I don't know of Ann Rosenthal's work outside of HatN.
