Why is this album universally panned by both fans and critics alike? I think its possibly the best album Metallica has done since "And Justice For All". No its not "Master of Puppets" but its a damn good album and every review and music forum dogs this album as their all-time worst. They got away from just making music for the arena rock crowd and got back to what they do best -- ass- kicking, ballsy, tight, killer metal. The only thing drastically different is the absence of extended guitar solos, which arent reallly missed in the context of the songs. I think Hetfield summed up the spirit of the record best on the "Some Kind of Monster" documentary. Playing in front of an audience of hardened criminals at San Quenton prison, introducing the title song from the new album he sez "we're not here to sell anything, that's for damn sure".

I think St. Anger is a very good album! Nothing really special, but still very good. |

One of the biggest craps in the history of music...no band went down worst than Metallica...they just dont do more good music since 1992... what a pitty...
How is that album good? The songs are long just for the sake of being long, the production is so so, there are no solos whatsover...and that album has the worst drum sound ever...if that actually is a drum, for all I know it could be a trash basket... Ah, and not all critic hate it...the Rolling Stone magazine gave it 4 stars...heheheh, so, not just thousend of millions of people say its awful...but the RS gave it 4 stars...so...if the Rolling Stone gives an album 4 stars...it cant be that good, now can it? |
