My favorite band, LIVE, is going to be performing “Mystery” this Friday, June 2. Ellen’s show is on the WB at 4/3c. Make sure to tune in and watch this amazing band perform one of the best songs this year. I love their new album SONGS FROM BLACK MOUNTAIN. Also, check out their website and their album on iTunes. LIVE rocks!!!

But a great band nevertheless

I made a poll some weeks ago asking "Which is the better band?"
The options were Live, U2 and REM.
I was surprised that most people voted for U2.
Some of the lyrics on "The distance to here" are amazing!
Haven´t heard the new one so I can´t really comment.

great band - I remember that we (me and my old band) played some of their songs back in the 90s (of the Throwing Copper album).

You ought to be a little more respectful of people. This member has said nothing and done nothing to you,and did not deserve your response.

The only thing "sad" about it is your immature attitude.

You partied with Ed and the guys, that must have been cool man!
Last month I bought their greatest hits "Awake"(DVD and CD together) and some of the music videos they made were really excellent. Especially "Lightning crashes" and "Overcome" which was dedicated to the rescue workers of Sept 11th. Highly recommendedClap

Same thing: you should be more respectfull. I don't know about Live's music, perhaps they'll never be in my collection; but a band's name is their poetic prerrogative. Here, the bands of my country actually make the effort of pick up very funny names . I guess that'll be in the "Stupid" cathegory for you... sad.

I grew up in Baltimore and one of my best friends moved to York County Pennsylvania and he went to high school with Ed and Chad Gracy.I used to go visit him frequently and we all used to go partying and swimming and tubing on the Susquehanna River.I saw them play quite a few times when they were called Public Affection.A total blast,I miss those days alot.

I actually only really got into Live last year. When they were at the top of the charts I dismissed them as some alternative rubbish.
Now when I listen to them on headphones I realize what I missed out on. Ed´s voice is excellent and his lyrics really blow me away.

Ah, I see. And do you have a nice little uniform to go with the attitude?

Listen, you get what amounts to spam on the message board, I point it out and you get on my case? I would think it is my prerogative to think the band name stupid, and to point it out, especially when it is in response to a one-post spam. Particularly when it's pretty much factually provable as stupid. I remember the pronunciation confusion at the radio station I worked at when they broke, and it's not too far off to imagnie the confusion they can cause on band posters with several acts (not unlike the band Free Beer).

Why the quotes around sad? Do you not mean sad? Do you mean kinda like sad, but something else? Like when I say that I "love" your post?

I wouldn't call "skating on thin ice" a term, it's more like a phrase.

And if most people don't put their posts in the correct section, that must mean you move more than 50% of all threads. Seems an awful lot of work, especially if - as happened with one of my threads - it's moved to the wrong section anyway.

Aside: U2, R.E.M. or Live? I think it's a toss-up, since they'll all put you in a coma within ten minutes.

and considering LIVE:

They were my favourite band during highschool, though after THe Distance to here they became very disappointing Cry

Then you have not been reading enough, grasshopper. I praise that which deserves to be praised, and I do so lavishly.

Pure Reason Revolution rule mightily, for instance.

Awhile back someone asked which non-prog artists could you see in a prog band. I would say the vocalist of Live.
His lyrics are very spiritual (he is influenced a lot by different Eastern religions)
Songs on Throwing Copper like Pillar of Davidson, or Dance with you (off The distance..) have incredible lyrics. His voice is unique as well.
