Pure Reason Revolution + Wakeman

Glad to see on another thread that my ranting about the mighty PRR has had some effect - I hope that those of you who check them out are at least half as affected and delighted by them as I am.

Evidently one mr Rick Wakeman is a big fan of theirs and offered to make a guest appearance on the album. Much as I respect Wakey for his accomplishments in the past and his sterling work as a session musician, I'm actually really, really glad that didn't happen, because I really don't think his playing style would be a good fit with their sound.

^Then we are in agreeance on that. Just the fact that they immediately struck me as having genuine commercial potential made me really hesitant at first, Prog Snob that I am. Then I moved to "It's really not that good, but I do like to listen to it", and eventually capitulated completely.

And the Cautionary Tales EP was good, but The Dark Third really goes one better, I think. The penultimate song on The Dark Third, The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows, gives me shivers every time.

I'm expecting The Dark Third in the post,when I get up in the morning.
It'd better be good it came highly recommended by an Andorian.

Got BOTH versions of The Dark Third, and it's been my fasvorite album of the year.

Why the US version doesn't have The Exact Colour and Trembling Willows, I couldn't tell you.

I saw their brilliant video for The Bright Amdassadors on MTV2. They didn't show a name of any kind at the beginning or end of the video and the line "A million bright amassadors of morning" was cribbed from Pink Floyd, so it took me about a day to find out what I had seen. Well worth the hunt, though.

And, yes, why Trembling Willows was left off TDT MKII is beyond me. I get the inclusion of Nimos and Tambos and The Intention Craft as they are both potential single material, but there are other tunes they could have dropped.
