Topic: High energy Prog songs Posted: June 09 2006 at 12:59 |
I'm looking for some prog songs that really inspire and put energy into you. And no ballads please. These songs are preferably no those that are dark and make you get all metal and angry, though metal songs are fine, if that makes any sense.

I think ELP's Karn Evil 9 is probably the ultimate "getting pumped" music outside of power metal.

If we're talking Yes, it would have to be "Soundchaser" surely, particularly the last few minutes. Also "Release, Release"?

The whole Raise Your Skinny Little Fists Like Antennas to Heaven album, by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Those climaxes the music reaches at certain points make you explode with energy, but perhaps the best way to explain the feeling would be: the urge to riot.

Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus -The Mars Volta
Karn Evil 9 -ELP
Wheel -Anekdoten
Lightning's hand -Kansas
Most of those bands have more songs that are "Pompous" and "energetic"

I agree. I only recommended songs that are energetic from start to finish. Godspeed's songs start slow and hipnotic until it reaches a climax like Henry just said. If you have a little bit more patience then you will be very thankful at the end of the album and breathless too

"Death Warmed Up" from the first album of High Tide, "Sea Shanties", is
a highly energetic number of about ten minutes length. Pure adrenalin,
and a wild and furious battle between electric guitar and electric
violin during the last three minutes.
