Now this is something I've wondered what about is what genre is King's X.  They do have some heaviness in their riffs but not fully metal.  And they are complexed like progressive rock. Plus i've read numerous times they are the pioneers of Groove Rock and Grunge.  So tell me what genre do you think King's X really is?

If they're deemed to be prog (and I think we can give it to them), I agree that this is where they should be.  They are not metal.

You're missing the "totally awesome" choice. Tongue

But (seriously), art rock would be the best.

I know and like this band very much ... They are not typical in any sense of any genre , for this reason I call them prog metal /rock  with a degree of alternative rock influences  .. A great band worthy of being added to this site . In their day their vision musicaly was out there , shame they don`t get their progressive accolades

I read in an interview a while back with one of Pearl Jam's guitarists that King's X was one of their biggest influences, and he said they "invented grunge".

According to digital dream door they are prog metal.

For me, they would be in the same category as Enchant. Somewhere between Art Rock and ProgMetal.
