USA shows

06-11-2006

The first of 6 shows that Porcupine Tree will play with ProjeKCt Six (Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew) in the USA in October have now been confirmed:

6th Oct - New York City: Nokia Theater
7th Oct - Philadelphia: Keswick Theater

Ticket information, as well as the remaining confirmed gigs, will be posted shortly. The band will also make available a limited amount of VIP tickets for each show.

Although the tour is primarily to promote the release of the Arriving Somewhere.... DVD, the band are planning to use the first half of the concerts in both Europe and the USA to present completely new music. Watch this space!

The above from the PT web site

Man, Prog in the Park is that same weekend. I just saw PT with Fripp last fall so this is no big deal to me. Maybe I'll have to toss a coin on that one.

How'd you like it? I was there last night too. I'm pretty speechless, to say the least.

Heres my coments I put in the reviews section:

I thought it was a exellent gig too. Tracks 2, 3, and 4 were my favs, 'the beast' had to be my favorite out of those though. I loved the intro to it just had this epic foreshadowing quality too it, and the super heavy middle instrumental peice, then mellow ending w/ the vocal hamonies to pull it all together - After It I was just in awe. Tracks 1, 5, 6 I couldn't really get into, although I'm not really good w/ new material so I have no right to complain.

Second set was excellent too the highlights for me were: Buying New Soul, Halo, TSOSB, 3. I thought ASBNH was slightly off, but still great. And what happened to Trains, did Steve break a sting or something. LOL
---------------------
So overall I loved it!!!!!!! Clap

A few comments from the D.C. show...

First off, I thought ProjeKct Six was fantastic.  Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp experimented with some stuff and looked like they were having a great time.  Played for about 1/2 hour (too short IMO).

PT... What a performance.  I think they played 6 new songs, of which the 17 min one was fantastic.  Steve commented that next week after they get back to England they were going into the studio to record.  Can hardly wait.

The second set was a lot of fun.  Music from In Absentia and Deadwing.  Heavy and loud.  It was great.  Buying New Soul and Halo were highlights and so was their closing number Trains.  Great encore.

Well, Steve said they'll be back this coming spring.  I'll be waiting in line.

I am listening to Warszawa right now and could only dream of seing these guys. Ever since my first exposure to them ( about 2 years ago) they have simply amazed me. I enjoy the old stuff and the new, all phases the band has progressed thru. Why playing only the left and right coasts? Bummer for us in da middle.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste...
