Heard many great things about this band... being a big influence upon
the '80 RIO/avant sene (as stated on this site). But unforunately have
not had the pleasure of experiencing any of their music.
So where would suggest is a good starting point for the band? As there are no reviews on the site How would you describe their music ? |

Deceit is a good place to start, but you're better off buying the debut album (almost as good) and if you like it get the box set, which is extremely good value for money and which can be bought minus the first album from ReR.
I've still to add the box set to the discography, and there's a stack of reviews I keep meaning to get on with in addition to This Heat - I was kind of hoping some other people might start reviewing once the albums were added (hint hint).
As for other krautrock influenced post punk - make some suggestions. I'm not sure that all of them will be appropriate for this site, but there's a lot of good stuff to sift through.

I have Deceit. Haven't listened to it in ages, and I can't recall a thing about it. I do recall liking it, but that's about it. Perhaps I'll put the album in for a spin here in a few minutes.

Horizontal Hold is the second track on their first (self titled) album.

Although I do not have albums of them, I am quite happy they got included as I was still familiar with them
Will check if the Library's got something from them

I used to like This Heat, but I can't remember what it sounded like. I used to like Throbbing Gristle, Wolfhounds and Camberwell Now. |
|
The music I enjoy is complex; varied; deep and well played.

As I said in another thread, I love them. Charles Hayward is a genius.
If you haven't heard them yet, you need to do yourself a favor and do
it. The "All's Well" compilation of Camberwell Now's material (includes
all releases by the band) is also an essential listen, I even prefer it
to This Heat sometimes.

Really talented band. I like what the drummer does even though it isn't anything crazy.

I have a lot of weird albums from This Heat, live performances with themes that seems to belong to no particular album. Anyway, This Heat, Deceit and Tago Mago are woth while. Then you should go for Camberwell Now. I managed to get one of their albums, and I'm perfectly happy. Now, a message to the author of this thread: ¿wich other bands are you referring to ? (please)...
