Topic: Maiden vs Priest Posted: June 23 2006 at 15:15 |
Of these two metal titans, which would you pick?
I am probably in the minority but I have to go for Priest. The albums, Sad Wings, Sin after Sin, Stained Class, Hell Bent up to British Steel were really so diverse (and innovative) for a metal band.

Iron Maiden a little bit more. Both are great.

Priest. Better songs, and more awareness of the inherently self-parodying nature of the genre they inhabited.

OK, at first I didn't want to vote, then I decided to vote Maiden, though I love Priest too. In fact, I'd rather listen to them than to most Prog-Metal bands (now perhaps I should reach for that flame shield... ). I find Maiden have the edge with me because their songs are more complex, even proggier. But once I saw Priest live, and they really smoked!

I love both bands, but when it comes down to it Iron Maiden's mastery of melody has allowed them to create some truly sensational pieces of music.
That being said Judas Priest have created some classic tunes too. But Iron Maiden in the end

I've never liked Iron Maiden but Judas Priest for me is one of the greatest bands ever.

Well, if the truth be told, I've been getting into Tool lately... But they sound quite different from the likes of DT!

My vote goes for Iron Maiden. It's my favourite heavy metal band.
I like Judas Priest too. I have most of their albums.
