Topic: Dragonforce! Posted: June 28 2006 at 01:19 |
I dont know whats wrong w/ me lately....I can't stop listening to the 3 songs I have by them....but their musicality sucks, their lyrics are hilariously bad, and the vocals are so cheesy. What is my problem?

Maybe you need a break from prog, a time to let down your hair and party!

I dunno... I'm wondering what's wrong in general with people freaking out over them when there are tons of bands that play the same style way way better who have been plugging away longer with little to no exposure in America. I don't want speedy stuff, power metal stuff, to get big over here and
it turn into another wankfest in the mainstream the way people treat
Dream Theater. DT is the band casual fans like to spout off about for
being the "most talented", and I don't want DF to be the band spouted
off about as "most fast", both bands losing out on some real fans
because of a weird elitism that mainstream people think they attain
when 'discovering' said band.
I mean, DF is cool, but especially as someone involved in music and the business, it is something potentially super frustrating. I HATE stuff like that.
Oh, go pick up some Labyrinth albums, they contain the best elements of European symphonic power metal mixed with an often apparent prog maturity and freshness.

yeah Dragonforce suck, but i've just been listening to them as well. It's quite odd. Their music seems to be at just the right speed to be able to get up and dance madly to (i'm not one for dancing myself but it would work).
I've not met anyone who actually likes them without also thinking they're rubbish.

As long as you're drinking beer while listening to it, I see no harm. It's beer-music.

Yeah, it's so utterly fantastically bad that it's enjoyable. the video for 'The Fire and the Flames' is a scream... one guitarist shreds away while the other chugs a beer, then they switch!
