The first album is ok if one is very bored and has nothing else to listen to. Other than that, not for me anymore. Used to be a big fan a few years back before i was exposed to good music.

I thought the first album was great,I especially love the track Blind.

I also happen to think their drummer is quite good.

I liked the first minute and a half of "Blind", and about 1/4 of the "Follow the Leader" album.

other than that, they never produced anything that interested me.

and now it seems their guitarist has gone all jesusy.  what a loss to the music community...Wacko

I can't stand their type of dark, depressing, angry & irritating music, and I consider them to be light years away from being a prog band. (Or am I thinking of Tool?Confused)

(Anyway, Metal is not prog, but you'd never know it by looking around here.)

Sorry -- that's my honest, long-held opinion: metal is the antithesis of prog.Stern Smile

I definitely don't like Korn, and I don't hear the slightest sense of PROG in their muzak, though I wish to disagree with the METAL = NOT PROG stance.

This thread is like a test to people's narrow-mindedness and snobbishness. If you don't like them for particular reasons then that's fine, but don't just write them off because they're in the same genre as Limp Bizkit.

Anyways, their first album was outstanding. Awesome riffs, drumming (listen to David Silveria's fills on "Ball Tongue"), talented slap bass playing, everything. The third song on it, "Need To", has an awesome bridge where the tempo slows down to almost nothing before rocketing right back up to speed with some quick slap bass playing. The bagpipe intro to "Shoot and Ladders" is haunting and moving. And "Daddy", the final track, is Jonathon Davis alone in the studio (singing to instrument tracks recorded days earlier) confessing a molestation. The last four or so minutes of the song is him sobbing in the studio before an uncredited female vocalist begins singing softly in the background. It's extremely haunting and almost avant-garde in its presentation. I find that part of the song kind of a prog connection because of that extended portion, kinda RIO-ish (don't cut me down, people).

I also love the album "Untouchables"; it's an extremely atmospheric album with some thoroughly-affecting songs. "Here to Stay" and "Thoughtless" are incredible heavy songs, while "Alone I Break" and "Hollow Life" are extremely haunting soft songs. The song "Hollow Life" features keyboard choir effects and light bells (very similar to Neil Peart's bells on "A Farewell to Kings" on songs like "Closer to the Heart"). I strongly suggest proggers check that song out if only for those parts. It's extremely heartening to hear them mentioned on this site. Definately one of the best mainstream bands out there (although I'll add that even though I haven't heard their latest album, the new single sucks. The guitar tracks are a lot flatter without Head's presence).

My friends are rabid fans so I'm all to familar with them. I see nothing of any interest anywhere; mostly just bland compositions with humerously angsty lyrics. The intro to "Shoots and Ladders" is cool, as well as some parts of ""Trash", and the line in "Faggot" that goes "You can suck my dick and f**king like it" has always been good for a chuckle.

"One had to be a Newton to notice that the moon is falling, when everyone sees that it doesn't fall. "

I thought they were ok and innovative with their first couple of albums but seem to have disappeared up their own arses. I mean, you can only de-tune the guitars so much...
