Steve Hackett's website (www.stevehackett.com) has a big list of MP3 downloads - click on "MP3 Jukebox".

How dare the Premier ignore my invitations? He'll have to go.

They're here:

http://www.ratingfreak.com/home/music/websites.xhtml

129 links, and more than 700 complete songs.Smile I think that more than 50% of them can be downloaded, some are streaming only. But I'd rather have 128kbps streaming than a lo-fi download.Wink

Wow, you have quite a list there. Very useful, thanks very much!

CREDO,

Credo offer 4 full tracks, because of memory restrictions the tracks are at 96kbps. The site is the official Credo My Space.
The page can be found at http://www.myspace.com/credogb

If you haven't had the chance to listen to them this is a great introduction Clap

Hi guys,

I changed the layout of my page:

http://www.ratingfreak.com/home/websites.xhtml

Looks much better now, and I added the submission form to the page. I'd be glad for any additions!

I used to log on to Napster in school where I could listen to the entire cd, but couldn't copy anything.

A Spock's Beard fan website had all the tracks, but only 3/4's of each track, thus gave an idea of what the cd sounded like.

Are there any websites like this?

REASON: I bought King Crimson's Islands, Fates Warning's Disconnected, Spock's Beard's the Light, Rhapsody's Symphony of Enchanted Lands because of this.

On the other hand, I didn't purchase some other cds because while the video, or sample song on their website may have been good, the rest of the songs were not.

I must admit that the list got neglected a bit in the last months ... but in the last few days I overhauled it quite a bit, and today I added a new exciting feature:

Cloud Layout

Exactly, As I couldn't copy/download from school, I was using Napster to listen to the entire cd, then later purchase or not purchase based on the content.

I hope there is listen, but not allowed to copy/download software to allow bands do this, or allow e.g. 3/4 of a song to be downloaded.

I think a lot of us have been burned by purchasing a recording based on a couple of tracks/videos allowed to listen to, but are often the only good ones on the recording.

If Umphrey's McGee is your thing, then check out the Podcasts at www.umphreys.com

Also, you can find excellent shows for legal download at www.archive.org

They also have several post-rock bootlegs (EITS, GY!BE, etc.) and thousands of Jam-band shows.

Lands End and Transience at:

www.transendland.net

There is a sampler to download with 8 full songs, pretty much one from each CD since 1994.

This is a useful list. Is it being kept anywhere other than in this posting, ie. for easy reference?
