Topic: Fields - 1971 Posted: July 28 2006 at 21:37 |
Brilliant and overlooked gem from 1971 - very melodic organ dominated prog featuring drums by Andy McCulloch of KC, and Graham Field , keyboardist of Rare Bird, both bring their unique styles, and though sometimes reminiscent of Rare Bird create a sound all their own. Highly recommended. Not to mention KILLER album art!

I plan on getting the album eventually, it seems quite promising .

It's a great album. Not a terribly complex album and has a pop sensibility, but some great keyboard work, top songs and a fine vocalist in Alan Barry. File it with the likes of Spring, The Moody Blues, Barclay James Harvest or Cressida rather than Rare Bird, however.

One shot band Fields their eponymous album a bit of a cult album, it has its moments (wonderful keyboards) but in general it fails to keep my attention for the whole album.

Yea, I just got this album a few weeks ago. They are a great trio, a bit like later Cream, but a bit more focused. A great album though. It's a crime that it took this long for this album to be re-released.

THAT is putting it politely
More like rather boring, uninventive
Typicallythe type of rare album being hyped by collectors who would like to get rid of their copies at overated prize.
Not that the album is bad in itself, but of limited interest

THAT ... is less or more correct Sean, Fields is overrated .... I bought the CD many years ago and sold it within a few days!
