OK. I listened to the samples here. How come Vangelis is considered progressive but not Yanni.

No. I'm not joking. That Yanni Acropolis CD is progressive, in a symphonic way. But his music is new age.

As this is really a proposal to ad Yanni to the site, I'll move it to the suggest artists section.

I realize what I am saying. It may be over the top or a stretch, much like the Coheed and Cambria stretch but in a different direction. Yanni does like 7/8 quite a bit and his music changes quite a bit. It is definitely NOT pop music, but very listener friendly. It also has classical music elements.

Have you ever listened to Live at the Acropolis? His using electric violin and an acoustic drum set are engaging.

Please no, Yanni represents everything that is wrong with electronic new age, it's not Prog AT ALL. Some Vangelis works mirror Yanni's style (e.g. Oceanic), but he has a majority of genuinly Progressive albums.

ClapClapClapClapClap I agree, I couldn't believe what I was listening to when I heard that album.  That is some amazing music.

Yanni doesn't belong here. He's good at what he does. I've seen him live at Radio City, and it was a great show, excellent musicianship, but not here, this is a rock forum.

I'll take that as a no then!

How dare the Premier ignore my invitations? He'll have to go.
