Topic: Ghost (japan) Posted: August 22 2006 at 23:10 |
Not to be mixed up with the English prog folk band. Ghost play a beautiful instrumentation of psychedelic music. They are present in Gibraltar Encyclopedia, and in my opinion a great addition to this site. If needs be I can provide sound samples as I own three of their albums. There is a little bit about the band on rateyourmusic "One of the more popular bands of the Japanese psychedelic rock underground. Formed in 1984 by Masaki Batoh, with the musical concept of playing improvised psychedelic rock jams. Batoh envisioned Ghost not so much as a stable unit but rather, as a community of like-minded musicians, involved in a live performance rather than presenting their music as a studio-manufactured product. It wasn't until much later that the band released its first album - 1990's "Ghost", and centered around a more stable line-up. What marks Ghost's music is the often calm and melancholic mood and the wide variety of instruments that can be heard on their songs. After 1999's "Snuffbox Immanence" and "Tune In, Turn On, Free Tibet", the band almost broke up but eventually returned with their most popular album yet - 2004's "Hypnotic Underworld"."

I have "Ghost". Nice album. Judging from this album, I think they should be added.

Yes, I'm in favour of an inclusion in the following days...this band is an imitation of vintage psychedelic / space bands but they do their job with quality.

I also agree on including them to PA. It fits very nicely with the psych/space genre.
