The new norwegian progrock society Subtacto are proud to announce the introduction of a new progrock festival in Europe.

Subtacto Progfest 2007 will be arranged on saturday 4th of august 2007, and we hope to make it a early tradition. The venue is still not decided, but it will be in the capital Oslo or nearby.

We are planning to have two stages and will have a total of 8 bands playing, 4 foreign and 4 norwegian bands.

The following bands is confirmed for the festival:

MAGIC PIE (N) and WHITE WILLOW (N).

Magic Pie's debut album "Motions of Desire" got standing ovation from norwegian and international progrock magazines when it was released last year. The album was voted as album of the year by seaoftranquility.org, and the band was voted at best progrock artist of the year by the norwegian magazine Tarkus.

The band played a very well received set at ROSFest, and also did a great job supporting the canadian legends SAGA at Rockefeller in may this year. They have also played with the english band MAGENTA in Stavanger earlier this year, and are also confirmed as one of the band at the norwegian festival "Mot Støy" in Notodden in october.

The band are currently recording their follow-up to "Motions of Desire".

White Willow is a wellknown band which recently released their fifth album, "Signal to noise".
They play melancholy and cerebral music with some Nordic folk influences. The music is very different but always very Progressive, very melodic, with sometimes a baroque touch close to GRYPHON, or some very classical flute or female vocal parts. They have a good complement of vintage keyboards including the Mellotron.

We are very proud to announce that the venue for our festival next summer will be the world famous Holmenkollen in Oslo.

Holmenkollen, which is tourist attraction number 1 in Oslo, is of course world famous for it's ski jump, and every year there are world cups in ski jumping, cross country skiing and biathlon.

The place is also used in the summer for different kinds of concerts and summer fun, and next summer it will be used as a festival arena too!

Subtacto Progfest 2007 will use the ski arena for our purpose, which is situated to the right for the famous ski jump.

There will be two stages for the bands, so that we can put a new band up on stage with about 10-15 minutes breaks. There will be 8 bands, 4 norwegian and 4 foreign.

For those of you who will travel from abroad, there is the Holmenkollen Park Hotel nearby, and Bogstad Camping quite near as well. More information about accomodation and travel will be published on ou rwebsite later.

Hope to see a lot of guest from abroad on our festival!

Mark Wilkinson to design our poster

We are happy to confirm that the well known graphic artist Mark Wilkinson will design the official festival poster.

Wilkinson is of course known for his cover art for both Fish and Marillion, and has also made album covers for Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, The Darkness, Robbie Williams amongst others.

His pictures were chosen for the 'Best Of British Illustration' exhibition at the Royal College Of Art a few years ago and he has exhibited in Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, Italy, Scotland and the USA.

It's also possible that he will held a sales exhibition at the festival next year.

We are proud to have him "on our team".

We are happy to be able to confirm the first foreign band which will play at the new norwegian progfestival next summer.

The band in question is the swedish band A.C.T.

They recently released their fourth CD "Silence", which already has reached number four on the swedish sales charts.

Their debut album, "Today's Report" was released in 1999, their second album, "Imaginary Friends" was released in 2001, and their third album, "Last Epic" in 2003.

They are regular headliners around Europe, and have played festivals such as the Sweden Rock Festival, Slottsskogen Goes Progressive, ProgPower and Spirit of 66.

The band have built a strong live following with their fresh approach to rock music, having been previously voted the best live band at the Sweden Rock festival ahead of the likes of Yes, Jethro Tull, Sepultura, Queensryche, Whitesnake and Twisted Sister.

We are delighted to get the band to our festival, and are looking forward to see them in action next summer! Big smile
