Topic: Kansas and David Pack of Ambrosia Posted: September 05 2006 at 12:32 |

David Pack the former lead guitarist and singer of Ambrosia will make a rare live performance opening for Kansas at the Grove in Anaheim CA this
Friday September 8th. This will be a wonderful opportunity to see the
brilliance of David live. He's an outstanding guitar player and singer, and to see Kansas will be icing on the cake.

Yes, he was credited with doing some background vocals.
I would like to see him perform live. I guess I was under the impression that it would never happen because of his deafness.

David Pack did some vocals on The Benoit/Freeman Project a couple of years ago and has lost nothing off of that voice.
I guess Ambrosia's bassist went on to play with Bruce Hornsby & The Range for a little bit. Saw them in concert my freshman year of college and they were out of this world. Great performer.

I'm curious as to what materiel Pack will be playing. I've been a fan for a long time, but his move toward contemporary Christian music hasn't moved me at all. It has nothing to do with the lyrical content. I've always felt that Pack was a very underrated guitarist, and the middle-of-the-road, adult contemporary sound of the records just hasn't held my interest. Pack and Livgren have a history ... I don't know if Livgren will be appearing at that show, but if so, that might make things a bit more interesting.
I caught Ambrosia doing a club gig 6 or 7 years ago before Pack's falling out with the rest of the group, and his voice then was still as inspiring as ever. Whatever happened to cause that split ... just unfortunate.

I have tickets to see Kansas with Heart in CA (not Anaheim). I hope he shows up at this show as well!

Sounds like a great show! David's guitar playing on the song "Time Waits For No One" is truly brilliant!

Yeah "Time Waits For No One" is one of my favorites. Almost every song on Ambrosia's debut CD is nirvana!
