I am one of those who currently are doing a lot of 5 star reviews Although I did mention this in the review that started it all(Shub Niggurath's Les Morts vont vite), plus these are all albums I've had for many years. Albums I've wished to write about for a long time, and now I finally decided to do so.

What part of Dolly Parton are you located in? On the mountaintop or in the valley?

I wonder how up and coming bands would feel about finally getting exposure SIX YEARS after they release an album? Or, even how Dream Theater would feel if we wait until 2019 to review their new album (I probably won't listen to it, anyways)? I review a lot of albums (some of those reviews don't even make it on this site), and there is an obvious difference in quality to a 5 star album. 2013 has been a stellar year so far, at least for those of us that like new prog music, too. If anything, just take it as a good sign for the prog world. What's so wrong with that?

"Eric Clapton (who by the way was, and probably still is, a fascist). "
This kind of opinionizing is not appropriate for a review, and should be removed. I lean to the left, and would not want to see similar comments about Roger Waters, for example, being a socialist. |

I'm not aware of any "political" lyrics written or sung by Clapton so in this case his "being fascist" should be irrelevant and for this reason deleted. If trelevant. of course the reviewer must be sure of what he writes.

Read it. Totally irrelevant and out of the review's scope

Um, this review isn't a review at all. In fact, he states that it is not. I mean, I'm no fan of Dream Theater, but this is just immature.
And, while you're at it, this one by the same guy seems kinda inappropriate, too. Edited by Second Life Syndrome - August 27 2013 at 18:43 |

Yup that "Images and Words" review says nothing about the actual music on the album but is just bitching about the fact that Dream Theater as a band are considered progressive and that they are included on PA.

I agree with both of you guys. Additionally I'd like to point out that the two 5 star reviews he also did are just as bad. I may share musical tastes with this dude(although I do like that DT album quite a bit), but the fact of the matter is, that he says absolutely nothing of value in his "reviews".
Can't we just scrap em altogether?

Not reporting abuse per se but I noticed that 'Votoms' gave 1 star to Hendrix Electric Ladyland......imho 1 and 5 star ratings should be reserved for albums that really deserve those ratings and used sparingly.
I'm not a huge Hendrix fan but that album doesn't even come close to being that poorly rated especially when the group ratings have it around 3.9.
Just an observation........... Edited by dr wu23 - August 28 2013 at 10:14 |

He's entitled to his opinion, and he makes an attempt to justify that rating in words.

^ Yeah I'm afraid so, I mean if it's okay for someone to give Wish You Were Here 1 or 2 stars, it's okay to do it to Hendrix.

I would rate it 2/5 but I rate it 1/5 by the same reason I rate Voivod's War and Paind 3/5 instead of 2/5. I can't compare Electric Ladyland with some album rated 2/5 in my list. I personally think if you have the first two Hendrix works, you really don't need this third, it was an irrelevant album for me. As I said, just my opinion.

Although I'm far from agreeing with anything he said, he's still entitled for his opinion. I wrote a 1 star review to an album which a lot of people rated with 4 and 5.

Yeah, I wouldn't in a million years dream of awarding Jimi with 1 star, but then again I'm his biggest fan in Ålborg I do think Lucas clarifies why he did so, and that in itself is very commendable, unlike that other guy Tempel I was on about here the other day.
Like they say, opinions are like arseholes - everybody's got one, including yours truly As long as we express them in a somewhat understandable manner and convey something about the music and the given album, then all is fair game imo.
