it looks as if Virgin made a big mistake; at least that's how I understand Peter Hammill in his latest newsletter:

At last, yes. Aural/visual evidence of last year's passage of VdGG across the live firmament should soon be available in concrete and legal form, CD (RFH) and DVD (Leverkusen). We've been in discussion with a couple of companies for what seems like a hundred years and - hopefully - things are now finally drawing to a conclusion. Dare I say more than that? Perhaps it would be too much of a hostage to fortune to do so at this stage.

looks to me as if Virgin was not interested, and they had to look for someone else. is anyone else of the opinion Virgin will regret this soon?

Artistically I think they should (but won't) regret it, financially they certainly won't regret it.
Can you tell me where my country lies?

Actually this set is available as a RoIO right now. That1s the set list:

the undercover man
scorched earth
refugees
every bloody emperor
lemmings
in the black room
nutter alert
darkness 11/11
masks
childlike faith in childhood's end
sleepwalkers
man-erg
killer
wondering

Bach, Ma, Bros, Déia, Dante.

Virgin would probably underproduce them anyway. They have no idea how big the VdGG fanbase is I'm sure.

They recently produced the the Peter Hammill remasters, so why not this concert gig which is an epic gig?  I mean, this gig is the only official live album the original lineup have ever produced.  Yes there's a DVD, but people generally prefer audio, so it'll sell phenomonally I believe.

I just seriously hope whoever does produce will not mess it up.  I'm sure Hammill will be careful though, I hope so.

Well I've heard a bootleg of said concert and that's pretty good quality, I must say, especially as it's a crown recording.  I therefore know what to expect!

The only problem I foresee is how they will tackle putting it onto 2 discs, as I believe this will quite obviously have to be done.  Will they make it even halves?

Almost surely. The concert lasted for two hours and a quarter, which is, say, some 134 minutes, some 67 minutes for a disc, which fits the possible length. Now, there were 14 songs, say, seven to each disc, supposing each song lasts in average for some nine minutes and a half. I think it may be done rather neatly. I hope so, I had to say...

Hopefully they will only possibly cut out some crowd parts and not music.  I cannot see them actually cutting music... I also want to fully hear the encore.  I always like hearing the crowd interaction for encores.

I wish I'd been there myself.  Of course, I did get to see them, but nothing would have beaten that night itself.

Those who attended were lucky people indeed.
