Ok, I just bought Passion and Warfare by Steve Vai and thought it was excellent. I was wondering where to go from there. In addition, this thread can be a general discussion about Mr.Vai. Any suggestions/thoughts/comments/questions?

So did I, and got increasingly disappointed as I bought and played subsequent releases. The odd one or two tracks on later albums did appeal, but the vocals, and the limited range of tune writing (seem to increasingly become vehicles for showi

If anyone else here is a gamer, check out Mr. Vai's work on the Halo2 soundtrack (which is really quite impressive).

The Steve Vai Anthology is a good album. Personally, I prefer Marty Friedman for some reason.

"Music For Speeding" had two good songs on it. But I really like "Dragons Kiss" and find myself listening to this more than any Steve Vai.

I'd get "Fire Garden". The "Bankok" and "Fire Garden Suite" is brilliant (a tad Zappa-ish, like Envelopes from the Arriving to late.. -album) However, if you wanna mosh out totally you should check out "Sex and Religion" where Dev

Before buying anothe Vai album try som Satriani first. He is much better than Steve vai. Listen to "Surfing with the alien" and you'll see!!!
