For many, many years now I have been a fan of the obscurity and weirdness that is Gong.
I have yet to ever come across a band that matches their strangeness.

I am seeking other music which 'tells stories' through the songs, and that can create images within your mind with it's lyrical content and complex sound structures.

The only artist (not prog, by any means) that I have ever come across which (for me) creates a sense of 'being there' and 'seeing it' is DOGBOWL (alias: Stephen Tunney).

Someone PLEASE help me, I need to fix my addiction for strangeness!!!!!

If it's lyrical oddness you're after then try the Residents. Much darker than Gong but similarly bizarre.

As for musically comparable bands... there aren't many that Andrew hasn't already mentioned. Ozric Tentacles could out-Hillage Hillage himself when it comes to floaty, swirling guitar nonsense, though.

Mate, I have heard of Khan, but cannot seem to find any online to sample (or download) from the Space Shanty album. Is it quite rare?

Arthur's Kingdom Come were a great band. I particularly like Sunrise.
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

Delired cameleon family (1975)
Probably the record closest to Gong's craziness, feat. Tim Blake and Clearlight musicians, musical community parallel to Gong.
