As a relative newcomer, I just today realized that David Sancious' albums are not included on the web-site.

 
David's first 5 albums, released from 1975 through 1979..."Forest Of Feelings", "Transformation (The Speed Of Love)", "Dance Of The Age Of Enlightenment", "True Stories" and "Just As I Thought" are among the most entertaining and fascinating prog-rock albums of that decade…which is, I know, saying a LOT.

 

As a composer, guitarist and keyboardist, his skills were/are remarkable.   He added a jazzy element to Bruce Springsteen's first 2 albums.

 

His solo sound runs the gamut...a little ELP here, a little Mahavishnu there, a little Hendrix here, a little Chick Corea there...   But in the end, it sounds uniquely like David Sancious...

 

Is he completely forgotten...I ask in all seriousness...are any members familiar with his music (or even with HIM?)

I just know he was in Springsteen's band, played with Peter Gabriel and was in Sting's band for a bit. Saw him live with Sting on The Soul Cages tour. Darn fine player.

Hmmm... there are some good moments on Sancious's albums, and thanks Joe for waking us up to this omission. But too much of it sounds like warmed-up Return to Forever... nonetheless, worth listening to for any prog-fusion nuts out there (like me). BTW does anyone know if Dance of the Age of Enlightenment got an official release? I've heard yes and no... would love to hear a copy if anyone's got one.

David made major contributions to Stanley Clarke's "Journey To Love" and "School Days" albums.
 
He was definitely a cousin to RTF, but I totally disagree that his music is an echo thereof.
