My little brother actually turned me on to this band. They're a new metal band (so this would be for progressive metal). They prefer clean sung vocals; the vocalist is obviously young and he sings with that popular high, almost whiny voice like many modern "emo" bands I suppose, but he does sing well. Their only album "Kezia" is a concept album to the best of my knowledge, and the music is varietous and complex, ranging from thrash/punk/metal to some sporatic acoustic portions. Inventive, technical, emotional and enjoyable. They also write more free-form songs. I think they suite the prog metal term. www.myspace.com/protestthehero. The songs "Heretics and Killers," "Blindfolds Aside" and "The Divine Suicide of K" are on the page and are from the album. There is also a track from their 2003 EP, but it doesn't sound all that great, so stick with the Kezia tracks.

A few people whose taste I hold in high regard love these guys... I find them pretty overrated, but they may indeed have a place in PA.

Well I don't think they're the cream of the crop, at least not yet. I don't know anyone who heralds them to be that good, so I can't agree with them being overrated, but I guess that's just subjective to you.

I only have their Kezia album, which is really good.I am on the fence about whether they should be included or not,but I will add them to the Prog Metal Team's voting chart.

That's the second band lately that I thought I added to the chart awhile ago and they apparently got lost in the shuffle.
Thanks Mike.

Protest the Hero is added?
Their style isn't my cup of proverbial tea, but I suppose I would call them progressive metal. |
