Topic: Communic Posted: December 26 2006 at 09:59 |
I have recently been listening to this Norwegian metal band's 2nd album, 'Waves Of Visual Decay'... and I have to say I just LOVE 'em... a real surprise to me.
Does anyone else (besides Jody ) like their albums???

I love the debut album!
I got to know them when I had a Nevermore phase...
Courtesy of Jody of course
Damn, if Nevermore started composing such cool and long tracks like Communic do than I would be totally happy.

^^ thanks guys, that's interesting. I've not got their first album yet. I was put off by their label as Nevermore clones, which I don't think is fair... but being as they are playing at Cheltenham in March, I thought I needed to check 'em out..
...and I think they are really interesting...

I'm a major Lacky/Graves fanboy, So I'll dig any DeadSoul Tribe or Psychotic Waltz
Go for it... Conspiracy in Mind really is an awesome effort!

I much prefer Nevermore ... Communic are good, but too technical. In my book Nevermore are more progressive (as in "innovative"), while Communic adhere too much to the "technical prog metal formula" ... and Nevermore simply write much better songs. So: Communic: 4 stars, Nevermore: 5 stars.

Well, I enjoy Nevermore more cuz they have a brutal, intense and awesome sound!
Communic doesn't sound that well... But both band have very strong melodies IMO and are actually equally technical... Loomis is quite a shredder isn't he?

^ sure, Loomis is one of the best. But they manage to not make song structures and riffs overly technical. technicality is great, but sometimes it's a bit uncalled for.

Communic is very tight, I've been listening to 'Waves...' a good deal recently.
I heard they toured with Scar Symmetry not long ago... that would've been a damn fine show.

yes, they did...furthermore, both bands are playing at Cheltenham in March...
I have to say, I really didn't think there'd be so many on the site who listened to Communic... I'm most impressed.
