Not only is the album awesome, I saw them do it at the Cape Cod Coliseum (now a piece of history) where it was done in quad.  We had seats dead center and was never so awed in my life.

one of the greatest live shows ever and, maybe more important, a great path opener for getting into prog.

interesting to see that in the 1-10 scale you propose, the PA rating of "Welcome Back..." is 7.7. i think that it deserves much more...

DallasBrian would give it 1, but only because negatives are not an option.  In fact, that's the only reason why DallasBrian gives positive ratings at all.

I give it 11, but only because that's the maxamum.

8 stars...slightly generous....mainly because the fast as lightning Hoedown and the 29 minute Hammond/Moog fest that is Tarkus improve on the original studio recordings and are both amazing on this album!

One the negative side:
All the stuff from BSS is only (at best) equal to the original studio recordings, although well played and okay to listen to admittedly.I would rather listen to the studio album which has a less muddier sound and no 5 minute drum solo stuck in the middle.

Take a Pebble seperated into 2 parts plus Piano Improvisations is pretty boring and pointless IMO.Again better to go back to the orginal studio recordings.Ditto Lucky Man and Still ..You Turn Me On.Just what is the point of Lucky Man without the Moog solo?

As a live album the earlier Pictures At Exhibition is superior both on sound and performance IMO.
